I run fantasy leagues for friends in every major sport, but golf was always the one that didn't work. The available platforms are clunky. Scoring is confusing. The tier-based ones let half your friends pick Scottie and end up with the same roster. The DFS sites are built for solo cash games against the public. None of them deliver the thing that makes a friend pool actually fun: a real draft, group-chat trash talk, and money on the line that gets settled Sunday night.

So for the 2026 Masters, I built the first version of this for two of my groups. A real 3-round snake draft. Live scoring from ESPN. A Friday-night cash auction on every undrafted golfer who made the cut, with bids settling into the pot. It worked. The two groups ran clean through the weekend, payouts went out Sunday, and the consensus was "this is how we should have been doing it the whole time."

By the PGA Championship in May, I had rewritten it as a proper multi-tenant platform. Multiple leagues per deploy. Four majors per league. Configurable prize structures. Push notifications. A commissioner admin panel that handles paid/unpaid tracking, cut-time auctions, and auto-fills missing rosters at the cutoff so no one is left without a team Sunday morning. Same week, new groups joined and ran their PGA pools. The platform is live in production at foursomegolf.golf.

The format

Three rounds of drafting, three golfers per team. After Friday's cut, a live auction opens on every undrafted player who made the weekend. Overnight the auction auto-closes (Saturday midnight Eastern for most majors) and auto-fills anyone short. Daily prizes Thursday through Sunday plus overall payouts. Cascading tiebreakers so there's no "let's just split it" argument. Every move is configurable per league by the commissioner.

The whole thing is built around the four majors. Some groups run all four; some just run the Masters and stop. Either way, each weekend is its own contained pool with its own pot. No season-long maintenance.

What it's not

Foursome isn't DFS. If you want salary-cap cash games against the public, head to DraftKings. It's also not a season-long fantasy contest. If you want to track 30 PGA events from January to August, PGA Tour Fantasy and ESPN cover that. Foursome is purpose-built for one thing: a group of friends running their own pool around the four majors, with a real draft and a Friday auction.

Why it's free

Free to sign up, free to run a league, no platform fees, no entry fees through us. Friends settle prize money the way they already do: Venmo, cash, Apple Cash. Foursome just tracks who's paid in and who's owed at the end.

What's next

The 2026 pilot covered all four majors, Augusta through Royal Birkdale. Year two is the 2027 calendar: the Masters April 8-11, the PGA Championship at Fields Ranch East in Frisco May 20-23, the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach June 17-20, and the 155th Open at St Andrews July 15-18. Existing leagues roll straight into 2027 with their 2026 results kept under the 2026 season tab. If you run a pool through Foursome this year, I want to hear what broke and what worked.
