How a major weekend plays out
The same four steps at every major. Your commissioner sets the rules once, and the app handles the cut, the auction close and the math.
- 1Before Thursday
Snake draft three golfers each
Three rounds. Run it live on a video call or let it stretch over a few days; everyone gets a push notification when they're on the clock. Your commissioner can re-randomize round 3 and keep the order hidden until it starts.

What is Foursome Fantasy Golf?
Foursome is a fantasy golf app built for small friend groups to run a pool around each major championship. You snake draft three golfers, then bid in a Friday night auction once the cut is set. Daily and overall prizes are tracked live from ESPN scoring.
How does the snake draft work?
Three rounds, three golfers per person. Round 1 goes forward, round 2 reverses, and round 3 either snakes back or gets re-randomized, depending on what the league commissioner picks. Run it live with everyone on a video call or stretch it over a few days. Each pick sends a push notification to the group.
How does the Friday night auction work?
After the cut, every undrafted player who made the cut is up for bids. Each bidder commits a drop player when they bid, so there is never any doubt about who leaves the roster. You can use the same drop on several bids; only your highest winner takes that slot. The auction has a hard cutoff (Saturday midnight Eastern by default). Winning bids apply, and anyone short of a full roster gets auto-filled with the next-best uncut player at the league minimum bid.
How are daily and overall prizes calculated?
Each round's daily prize goes to the team with the lowest combined score from their best 2 or 3 players (the admin picks the rule). Ties cascade through the best individual score that day, then the second best, then the third. Overall standings rank by your best single golfer's final finishing position; ties cascade through your second-best, then third-best player.
Is Foursome free to use?
Yes, Foursome is free. Entry fees and payouts are handled between league members outside the app. Foursome tracks who has paid but doesn't process payments.
Which golf majors does Foursome support?
All four men's majors: the Masters, the PGA Championship, the U.S. Open and The Open Championship. Each tournament runs on its own with its own draft, auction, prizes and standings. Season standings add up results across the year.
What happens if a player doesn't bid in the auction?
At the auction cutoff, anyone with fewer than three players gets auto-assigned the next-best uncut undrafted golfer at the league's minimum bid. Everyone has a full roster going into the weekend, and the pot grows with every auto-fill.
How do friends join a league?
The commissioner shares one invite link. Anyone who clicks it registers (or logs in) and is added to the league automatically. No name-claiming, no separate setup. Friends can change their team name and display name from their profile at any time.
More questions? The admin guide covers every setting, and about explains who built this.
