The 2027 PGA Championship runs May 20-23 at Fields Ranch East, the Gil Hanse course at PGA Frisco in Frisco, Texas. It's the 109th PGA Championship and the first one played at the PGA of America's own home. If your group wants a real pool around it (a snake draft, a Friday-night cash auction, money paid out off Sunday's leaderboard), this page covers the whole week and how to set it up on Foursome in about five minutes.
"Pool" here means a private contest among friends with your own buy-in. If you want salary-cap DFS against strangers, that's DraftKings. If you want a season-long public game, ESPN and PGA Tour Fantasy cover that. Our platform comparison lays out who each option suits.
2027 PGA Championship: dates and venue
- Dates: Thursday May 20 through Sunday May 23, 2027
- Course: Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco, Frisco, TX (par 72, designed by Gil Hanse)
- Time zone: Central. Round 2 wraps around 8pm CT, so Foursome's PGA auction defaults are set later than usual: opens Friday 9pm CT (10pm ET), closes Saturday 5am CT (6am ET).
- Field: 156 players, including 20 PGA club professionals who qualify through the PGA Professional Championship
The course is new to the men's majors, so nobody in your group has a decade of course history to lean on. That makes the draft more open than a Masters draft. For what we know about how it plays, read the Fields Ranch East course preview.
What a Foursome PGA Championship pool looks like
- 3-round snake draft. Each golfer can only be on one roster, so no two friends end up with the same team.
- Friday night cash auction. After the cut, every undrafted player who made it is up for live bidding. Winning bids go into the pot.
- Daily prizes Thursday through Sunday plus overall payouts, set per league.
- Live ESPN scoring. Scores sync every 5 minutes during rounds. Nobody keys anything in.
- Cascading tiebreakers. Best single golfer decides it, then 2nd best, then 3rd. No "let's just split it" texts.
- Auto-fill at the auction cutoff. Anyone short a weekend golfer gets the next-best uncut player at the league minimum bid.
- Push notifications for your pick, auction activity, and results.
- Season standings across all four majors if the same group plays the Masters, U.S. Open, and Open too.

These come from a 10-person league that ran the 2026 PGA Championship on Foursome. The 2027 setup is identical.

The week-of timeline (May 2027)
- Early May: the field starts syncing from ESPN about two weeks out. Send the invite link and collect buy-ins.
- Wednesday, May 19: draft night. A 10-person live draft with a 90-second clock takes about 30 minutes.
- Thursday, May 20: Round 1. Daily prize #1.
- Friday, May 21: Round 2 and the cut. By default the cut applies and the auction opens at 9pm CT (10pm ET), or about an hour after ESPN shows Round 2 complete if that comes first.
- Saturday, May 22, 5am CT (6am ET): the auction auto-closes. Foursome finalizes bids and auto-fills short rosters before Round 3. Commissioners can change either time.
- Saturday, May 22: Round 3 on post-auction rosters.
- Sunday, May 23: final round. Overall winner decided by each team's best finisher, then tiebreakers.
How to set up your PGA Championship league in 5 minutes
- Register at foursomegolf.golf. Email and password, 30 seconds.
- Create a league and name it after your group chat.
- Send the invite link. Friends click it, register, and land in the league.
- Configure the PGA Championship in the admin panel: entry fee, which days pay daily prizes, dollar amounts per place, minimum bid, and draft format (standard snake or a hidden, re-randomized Round 3). The defaults work fine.
- Set the draft for Wednesday, May 19 and advance to the draft phase. Push notifications handle the rest.

For the step-by-step commissioner version, see how to run a PGA Championship pool.
Example payouts
8 friends, $25 each ($200 base)
- Daily Thursday through Sunday: $20 each ($80)
- Overall 2nd: $40
- Overall 1st: the remainder ($80 plus everything the auction adds)
12 friends, $50 each ($600 base)
- Daily Thursday through Sunday: $50 each ($200)
- Overall 3rd: $75
- Overall 2nd: $125
- Overall 1st: the remainder ($200 plus auction money)
Set 1st place to "remainder" in the admin panel and it grows live as auction bids land. Every auto-fill also charges the minimum bid ($10 by default), so even a sleepy Friday night adds to the pot.
The format in detail
The 3-round snake draft

Round 1 goes 1 through 10, Round 2 reverses, Round 3 goes forward again. Everyone ends with three golfers nobody else has. The 20 club pros are in the player list but won't go in a 10-person draft; with 30 picks, you'll be choosing from the top of a 156-player field. For pick-by-pick tactics, read our snake draft guide.
The Friday night auction

After the cut, every undrafted player still in the field goes up for bidding. You commit a drop player when you bid, so there's no confusion at finalization. The auction closes at the cutoff, winning bids apply, and short rosters get auto-filled at the minimum. The auction explainer covers bidding strategy.
Scoring and tiebreakers
Daily prizes go to the best combined score that day (best 3 of 3 by default; many groups use best 2 on the weekend). Overall prizes pay by each team's best single golfer's finish, with ties broken by the 2nd and then 3rd golfer. The tiebreaker shows inline on the standings, so nobody has to argue about it.
FAQ
When is the 2027 PGA Championship?
May 20-23, 2027, at Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco in Frisco, Texas. Draft night is usually Wednesday, May 19.
How many people can play?
Foursome works for groups of 4 to 20-plus. Most land between 8 and 12.
What if one of my golfers withdraws?
A withdrawal before the cut counts as a missed cut. If it leaves you short for the weekend, bid in the auction or take the auto-fill at the minimum bid.
Does Foursome take a cut of the money?
No. Foursome is free, and it doesn't process money. Your group settles buy-ins and auction bids over Venmo or cash, and the commissioner marks each person paid or unpaid in the admin panel.
Can friends who miss the live draft still play?
Yes. Push notifications and a longer pick clock make an async draft workable, though a live draft on FaceTime is more fun.
How is this different from Majors Challenge or PGA Tour Fantasy?
Majors Challenge uses tier picks, so two friends can pick the same team. PGA Tour Fantasy is a season-long salary-cap game against the public. See our Majors Challenge comparison and PGA Tour Fantasy comparison.
